Dr. Vincent Thomas Karolewics is a board-certified radiation oncologist and serves as the director of radiation oncology at Lifefirst Imaging and Oncology in Cullman, AL. With nearly 30 years of experience, Dr. Karolewics is known for providing high-quality, compassionate care in a supportive and patient-centered environment. In 2003, he established Lifefirst Imaging and Oncology as a freestanding facility to offer advanced cancer treatment close to home. His approach blends clinical precision with a deep respect for the patient experience.
Dr. Karolewics earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond where he also completed his residency in radiation oncology. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in chemistry from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. His advanced training includes LDR and HDR brachytherapy for prostate, breast, and head and neck cancers, as well as expertise in 3D treatment planning, IMRT, stereotactic radiosurgery, IGRT, respiratory-gated therapy, and the use of non-sealed radioactive isotopes for thyroid cancer, lymphomas, and bone metastasis.
Throughout his career, Dr. Karolewics has held multiple leadership roles, including director of radiation oncology and medical director of oncology at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He has actively contributed to clinical research and served on several hospital committees. In 2024, he led the installation of the Varian TrueBeam system at Lifefirst Imaging and Oncology, reflecting his continued focus on technological innovation and improved outcomes. Outside of his clinical work, he is a licensed pilot, certified scuba diver, and former EMT and firefighter. Dr. Karolewics remains committed to serving patients with care that is thoughtful, effective, and grounded in experience.
I've been meaning to do this for a while now! Dr Karlowics and his whole team are THE BEST!!! I believe he and his nurses were placed in their position by the Lord!! They truely care and you know that when you are their patient. They ask you how your doing and actually listen to your response and offer suggestions on how to remedy or deal with it. So many doctors that I have visited do not. They might ask how your doing but while your answering they are washing their hands or typing in their computer while nodding and you just know they arent paying attention. They just take a devestating situation and make you feel better about it. They care about your comfort through the whole process!! Definitely recommend them!!!
